New ranking lists University of the Pacific among state’s top 50 schools

burns towerSTOCKTON — College Choice ranked the University of the Pacific 41st among the top 50 colleges in California.

College Choice, a leading company in college and university rankings and resources, rated the top 50 colleges in the state in its “2016 Ranking for the Best Colleges in California.”

While perennial list topper Stanford was rated No. 1 by the company, smaller schools such as Pomona College (No. 3), Harvey Mudd College (No. 4) and Claremont McKenna College (No. 5) were also listed among the top schools. Big state schools such as Cal (No. 6), UCLA (No. 7) and USC (No. 8) also made the top 10. UC Davis finished at No. 19.

The rankings were based on factors that were culled from individual schools’ websites as well as renown statistics and ranking sites, including The National Center for Education Statistics. The company focused on factors such as the school’s academic reputation, diversity of programs, diversity of student organizations, student retention and graduation rates.
