MODESTO — The city of Modesto has received a $52,919 grant to help boost its recycling efforts.
The grant from CalRecycle will go toward providing education, advertising and recycling resources in the community. Funding for a part-time service aide, recycling education, advertising, beverage containers and maintenance supplies will be covered by funds from the grant.
Modesto’s grant was part of $10.5 million CalRecycle awarded under the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act specifically for recycling beverage containers and to clean up litter.
The goal of Cal Recycles beverage container recycling program is to reach and maintain an 80 percent recycling rate for all California Refund Value beverage containers-aluminum, glass, plastic and bi-metal.
