LODI — Lodi Health has earned certification as a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for its weight-loss surgeries.

“This accreditation shows Lodi Health’s dedication and commitment to our patients and their families, from the initial planning stages of weight loss to educational opportunities and support groups afterward that lead to continued success,” Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Director Dr. Ruby Gatschet said. “Our patients can be confident in our program’s ability to deliver consistent, effective and evidenced-based care with every surgery.”

The national accreditation comes from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, which ensures bariatric surgical patients receive a multidisciplinary program, not just a surgical procedure, which improves patient outcomes and long-term success.

To earn the MBSAQIP designation, Lodi Health met essential criteria for staffing, training and facility infrastructure and protocols for care, ensuring its ability to support patients with obesity, Lodi Health said. The center also participates in a national data registry that yields semiannual reports on the quality of its processes and outcomes, identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
