Readers can learn more about digital books and local offerings when the Digital Bookmobile National Tour comes through the Central Valley.
The tour will make two stops, one at Prescott Junior High in Modesto on May 2 and another at Sherwood Mall on May 9.
“Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library is pleased to offer eBooks in our catalog, and our collection is growing,” said City Librarian Chris Freeman. “Every month we are adding new titles for readers of every age. I hope people will drop by the Digital Bookmobile for a little ‘tech time’ and learn how easy it is to download a book to their favorite device.
The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The 74-foot-long community outreach vehicle is a high-tech version of the bookmobiles library patrons may be familiar with.
The vehicle is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players. While on board, people can learn about e-books and explore what local libraries have to offer.
A gadget gallery—featuring Kindle® HD, iPad® Mini, Android™ Galaxy Tablet, NOOK™ HD+, Sony® Reader™, Kindle® Paperwhite, Windows® Phone 8, and more—will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library’s download service.
The Digital Bookmobile will be at Sherwood Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, May 9.
