If you’re like me, you’ve felt a little neglected because of the lack of a Panera Bread Company in Modesto. Stockton has one. Turlock has one. Merced has one, for Pete’s sake.
Well, finally, Modesto is getting a Panera! It will be at 2103 McHenry Ave., according to a city permit request. That’s near Floyd in the same shopping center as Burlington Coat Factory. But we’ll need to be patient.
“We are targeting an early summer opening next year – likely June 2015,” Panera spokeswoman Mandy Burns told me in an email.
We’ll let you know if that date changes as construction begins later this year..
Speaking of McHenry, there are a number of changes coming to McHenry Village at McHenry and Briggsmore.
Bianca’s Bridal is expanding. The store has applied for a permit to expand into the adjacent suite. More room for bridal and evening wear.
Ditto’s is moving to McHenry Village from its downtown location. The printing company should be ready to open on Aug. 18. It will be in the suite where Beardsley Book and Bible used to be.
Rockin’ Jump is also getting ready to open in McHenry Village. It will be in the former Valley Sporting Goods store and is expected to open at the beginning November. It’s the 16th franchise for the company whose motto is “Fitness disguised as fun.”
According to the franchisor, Drew Wilson, it’s not just for kids.
“We’ll have Rockin’ Aerobics for adults,” Wilson said.
He added that there will be American Gladiator-style events as well as birthday parties and fundraisers.
“We’ll be partnering with schools and nonprofits,” Wilson said. “We’re looking forward to being part of the family community in Modesto.”
(Editor’s note: Article was corrected Sept. 23 to reflect that Manteca does not have a Panera franchise).
