PHOTOS – Historical theaters

A visit to northern San Joaquin Valley’s old theaters is like taking a trip back in time. Thanks to determined local communities, restoration projects brought these early 20th century architectural treasures back to life.

In July, we’re looking at the area’s historical theaters: The State Theatre in Modesto, The Bob Hope Theatre in Stockton, The Grand Theatre in Tracy and the Merced Theatre in Merced.

These theaters, once fallen on hard times, have been restored through the efforts of their communities and are now important show pieces.
