Lodi packing and wine business leader Don Reynolds dies at 86


LODI — Don Reynolds, president and one of the founders of the M&R Company died this morning, the company’s general manager, Craig Lusk, confirmed. He was 86.

Reynolds started out in business with his cousin, Rocky, in the 1950s. They began as a nailing company, building boxes and bin for canneries and growers.

In 1964, the teamed with Tony Maffort to create the M&R Company and opened on Lockeford Street with two sheds. They moved to their Tokay Street facility four years later.

Reynolds, along with his cousin, Rocky, was also a co-owner of Oak Ridge Wineries Frontiers community Builders, Reynolds Nailing Company, Quality Bin Company, M&R Company, Reynolds Packing Company and a principal with Podesta Family Farms.

Rocky Reynolds died in September 2013.
