Monte Vista Avenue to be closed to allow railroad maintenance

road constructionTURLOCK — Monte Vista Avenue will be closed at Golden State Boulevard for three days, starting Aug. 8. The closure will allow Union Pacific Railroad to perform maintenance work on its tracks that cross Monte Vista Avenue.

The maintenance will raise the elevation of the tracks about two inches and provide the city with a chance to do minor paving work to achieve a smooth driving surface.

The City of Turlock will provide notification and detour signs for motorists. Drivers are advised to use either the Taylor Road or Fulkerth Road exits off Highway 99. Drivers can also take a provided detour along Countryside Drive or Golden State Boulevard, but are advised to be aware of potential delays.
