MODESTO — Modesto Irrigation District has appointed Greg Salyer as its general manager.
Salyer has been servicing as the district’s interim general manager since September 2015. Before that, he was MID’s assistant general manager of electrical resources.
“Throughout his 30 plus years of experience, Greg has developed invaluable knowledge of MID and the utility industry,” MID President Larry Byrd said. “We’re confident that under his leadership MID will continue to be a leader in the water and electric industries.”
As assistant general manager, Salyer was responsible for planning and acquiring
power supply to serve the present and future needs of MID customers. That included overseeing long-term and short-term arrangements to buy power and secure transmission access; interacting on a daily basis with the California Independent System Operator and Pacific Gas & Electric Company to schedule power through California’s electric grid.
Salyer holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Sacramento and a master’s degree in electrical power engineering from University of Southern California.
