uc mercedMERCED — U.S. News & World Report released its annual ranking of national universities, and UC Merced has made the top 10 among schools that exceed graduation rate expectations.

Overall, UC Merced ranked 78th among public schools and 152 in the “National Universities” category.

Stanislaus State University ranked No. 14 among public universities in the West region, up one position from last year.

University of the Pacific ranked No. 111 in the “National Universities” category and No. 39 among “Best Value” schools.

UC Merced is by far the youngest university to appear in the U.S News & World Report ranking of national universities.

“Earning a spot among the nation’s most highly regarded colleges and universities is an enormous honor and a tribute to the trailblazing faculty, staff and students who have brought us so far in such a short period of time,” UC Merced Chancellor Dorothy Leland said. “UC Merced has emerged as the next great research university in the most respected and accomplished public university system in the world.”

In addition, UC Merced ranked No. 47 among public institutions in alumni giving rates.
