Foundation set up in Deputy Wallace’s honor


dennis wallaceMODESTO — The family of slain Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy, Dennis Wallace, has established a charitable fund in his honor.

The Deputy Dennis Wallace Kids Soccer Fund was established at Stanislaus Community Foundation to help raise money for young children involved in local soccer associations.

Wallace’s extensive efforts to find positive pathways for struggling kids through sports — especially soccer — changed the lives of many, his family said. 

Wallace was killed Nov. 13, while investigating a suspicious vehicle in the Hughson area. He had worked for the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department since 1997 and mentored many children in the community through the DARE program and through youth soccer.
