Michael David Winery’s Schmitz promoted

LODI — Tom Schmitz has been promoted to National Sales Manager at Lodi-based Michael David Winery.

Schmitz joined Michael David in 2008. He is based in Chicago and was previously the winery’s Midwest divisional manager. He has 20 years of experience in the wine and spirits industry.

“Tom has been a staple at the winery for many years, and he has proven himself time and time again. As the winery has grown, so has he and we couldn’t be happier for him. We’re confident sales is under strong leadership and we will continue to have great success,” said the winery’s vice president of sales and marketing Melissa Phillips Stroud.

Michael David Winery sold its first commercial wine in 1984. It is owned by brothers Michael and David Phillips, who have built their Lodi winery into one of the fastest growing wineries in the United States, the winery said.
