Modesto police recognized for National Night Out event


MODESTO — The Modesto Police Department Crime Prevention Unit was recognized for its National Night Out participation in 2016.

The National Association of Town Watch ranked Modesto first in California among cities with a population between 100,000 – 300,000 population. The city estimated 452 neighborhoods participated in the city-wide National Night Out event on Aug. 2.

The city credited donors with providing money and services to make the event possible including ADT, Modesto Irrigation District, Gallo, DOT Foods, McDonald’s, Pepsi, 7up Bottling Company, Black Oak Casino, Glacier Ice and Modesto Bee.  Many smaller donors also contributed to ensure this event was a success.

Members of the community, along with police personnel, will be recognized at the Jan. 24 City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m.
