ACE service canceled through Wednesday

STOCKTON — The Altamont Corridor Express canceled passenger service for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because of weather and flood-related outages.

There has been no damage to the Union Pacific rail line ACE uses between the Central Valley and San Jose, but weather has affected other UP lines, which has prompted the railroad to reroute trains to the line ACE uses.

“Recent weather events such as washouts, heavy rain and rapid snow melt effects have caused rivers to flood and damage to our tracks causing several service outages across the Union Pacific rail network,” ACE representatives said in a news release.

UP was rerouting trains and ACE had hoped to restore service by Wednesday but extended the service cancellation late Monday morning.
