Tracy hires Schnaider as finance director


karin schnaiderTRACY — The city of Tracy has hired a new finance director.

Karin Schnaider is the finance director in Benicia. She will start her new job in Tracy on March 13, Tracy City Manager, Troy Brown said.

Schnaider has more than 14 years of government accounting, budgeting and management experience.

“The selection process for this key executive position was very competitive, but Ms. Schnaider’s professional background and experience made her the top candidate,” said Brown. “We feel confident that Ms. Schnaider will bring her extensive knowledge, experience and leadership to the Finance Department and the city of Tracy.”

Schnaider has worked as finance director in Benicia since 2014. She oversaw a General Fund budget of $33-million and a citywide budget of more than $63-million including water and wastewater utilities.

She has also managed and provided direction for the financial, accounting, information technology and business planning activities in her role as finance director.

Schnaider holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from San Diego State University. Prior to her role as Benicia’s finance director, she served as the finance director for the city of Sierra Madre.
