Stockton roadways to undergo beautification

stockton highway trafficSTOCKTON — Caltrans will begin a beautification project along the Crosstown Freeway, SR-99 and I-5 in Stockton in March.

Dubbed “Operation Clean Sweep,” Caltrans will partner with local agencies and residents to beautify the landscape and overall appeal of Stockton in an effort to make immediate improvements that will be sustainable in the future.

Work will include graffiti abatement, installation of decorative landscaping, trash removal, LED freeway lighting upgrades and extensive roadway repair.

City and community members will also be encouraged to help beautify Stockton through transportation art and gateway monuments showcasing their artistic talents and community pride. Local citizen advisory groups will be contacted for input on clean sweep artwork and monuments, Caltrans said.

Most work will occur on weekends, and motorists may experience exit ramps and lane reductions during times of work.
