Farmers markets canceled as heatwave spikes

June 22, 2017

Farmers markets across the Central Valley have been canceled tonight as temperatures spike to 110 degrees in many places.

In Stanislaus County, the popular outdoor markets in Gustine, Hughson and Turlock have been canceled. In San Joaquin County, the markets in Lodi and Manteca are canceled as well.

Several cities provide cooling stations for those who might not have access to air conditioning. The City of Stockton encourages its citizenry to make their way to community centers, libraries, pools and other places with “cooling zones” to get relief from the heat.

Temperatures are forecasted to drop to the century mark by tomorrow and into the mid-90-degree range by the end of the weekend.
