Turlock city manager set to retire

July 12, 2017

Turlock City Manager Gary Hampton will retire from his position on July 15. Fire Chief Robert Talloni was named Interim City Manager by the city council at its July 11 meeting. Hampton announced his retirement earlier this year.

“City Manager Hampton’s decades of public service is admirable,” said Mayor Gary Soiseth in a statement. “In just a year and a half, Gary has proven to be effective at taking this organization to new levels. No stranger to Turlock, Gary hit the ground running and has not stopped since. He will be missed, but we wish him well.”

Talloni is one of many city leaders who has stepped into the interim position.

Soiseth said Talloni’s appointment allows the city council to continue with its development of city staff. “At the same time, Chief Talloni’s decades of management experience will prove invaluable in this time of transistion,” Soiseth said.

Talloni has served as fire chief for nearly two years.

“I’m honored that the Turlock City Council has faith in me for this assignment,” Talloni said. “I’m looking forward to working with (council members) on continuing to move this great organization forward. Together, we will ensure a smooth transition when the council selects a permanent city manager.”

The council is in the final phase of recruitment for the city manager position.
