In its fifteenth year, University of the Pacific’s Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony is currently bringing jazz students from around the world to Stockton.
Jazz performances are being held Valley Brewing Company and the Faye Spanos Concert Hall.
Twenty-three students from various places from around the globe are honing their jazz performance skills through “combo rehearsals, master classes and private instructions by UOP’s Convervatory of Music,” according to a statement released by the Brubeck Institute.
Guest artists and fellow Brubeck Institute will be instructing the students during the week. Among those teaching are Helen Sung, Lewis Nash, Donald Brown, Steve Wilson, Chris Smith and Sean Britt.
August 8 and 10, the performances will take place at Valley Brewing Company, 157 W. Adams Street, in Stockton. A final free concert featuring all participants and guest artists will be held August 11, 5:30 p.m., at Faye Spanos Concert Hall at the UOP Campus, 3601 Pacific Ave., in Stockton.
