Memorial Medical Center, part of Sutter Health’s not-for-profit network, was named one of the Top 50 Hospitals in California by US News and World Report for 2017-2018.
The publication ranks hospitals in major metropolitan areas throughout the state and nation based on performance in 25 adult specialties, procedures and conditions.
Memorial Medical Center was chosen because of high ranking in treatment of heart failure and for colon cancer surgery. The hospital also ranked within the top 50 nationwide for gynecology. Only 152 out of 4,500 hospitals across the US received a national ranking in at least one specialty, according to a statement released by MMC.
“Our network’s doctors, nurses, clinicians and employees dedicate themselves daily to give safe, high-quality care for patients across Northern California,” said Stephen Lockhart, MD, Ph.D, and Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Health. “Our quality advancements also have an invaluable impact by helping lower costs and improve efficiencies.”
Nine other Sutter Health locations were recognized by the publication, three of which were part of the Top 50 list. The other six were recognized as “high performers” in at least one specialty, condition or procedure.
