The Stockton City Council will hold a special meeting to consider an expenditure plan.
On August 21, at 6 p.m., the city council will review what’s called the “Strong Communities Expenditure Plan.” The public is encouraged to attend the meeting at City Hall Council Chamber, 425 N. El Dorado St., second floor, in Downtown Stockton.
The passage of Measure M in November 2016 provided funding for Stockton’s community services and recreation and libraries. Strong Communities was created from that passage.
Measure M provides a one-quarter of a cent “special transaction and use” tax, which became effective on April 1 of this year. The funds generated by the tax are estimated to total between $9.1 million and $14.8 million annually over the next 16 years, according to the city.
