The Orange and Black Ball held Aug. 26 by the Pacific Athletic Foundation raised a record amount to benefit student athletes of University of the Pacific.
Held at the Janssen-Lagorio Gymnasium, the ball sold out one month in advance, grossing $252,000, which netted a record of $123,735 for UOP student athletes. The amount was $23,000 more than what was raised at the 2016 ball.
Money raised will support the PAF Impact Fund, sport-specific operations and a new “nutrition station,” is made available to all student athletes.
Pacific Construction, the company presenting this year’s event, unveiled the Janssen-Lagorio Performance Center, which it constructed at a price of $1.5 million. The gymnasium provides student athletes with exercise and weight equipment for training purposes.
