The City of Tracy has introduced a grant program to help downtown businesses revitalize the area. The Façade Improvement Grant Program includes a signage and awning grant and a storefront improvement grant.
An estimated $200,000 will be made available to interested businesses, and must be applied for by Sept. 21, 2017. The funds are issued on a competitive selection basis and are subject to approval by the United States Department Housing and Urban Development, grantors of the money.
According to the City of Tracy, “Grant funds may be used to reimburse program participants for up to 50 percent of the actual costs of improving the exterior of their owned or occupied commercial building up to a maximum grant award of up to $5,000 for sign and awning projects, and up to $50,000 for full exterior renovation projects. Private matching funds are required for program participation.”
“Downtown Tracy is a destination that offers unique shopping, dining, entertainment and events on a year-round basis. The Façade Improvement Grant Program uses Federal funds, along with private dollars from business and property owners, to make economic development investments that assist in creating an even better downtown experience for residents and visitors alike,” said Barbara Harb, Economic Development Analyst in a statement. “This year’s Federal funding amount is the largest (Community Development Block Grant) allocation in the program’s history. The City is looking for downtown property and business owners to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to transform their downtown storefront locations.”
Applications must be submitted by Sept. 21, 5 p.m., at Tracy City Hall, 333 Civic Center Plaza, in the Economic Development Division.
