MODESTO — The local Keller Williams Realty office is shoe-in for its humanitarian efforts. To help reduce worldwide poverty, the business is collecting footwear to creative opportunities in needy nations.
The local real estate firm has launched a donation drive to collect shoes for the Soles4Souls organization, which creates jobs and provides relief by distributing shoes and clothing globally.
“Keller Williams Realty Modesto is a strong supporter of Soles4Souls’ disrupting the cycle of poverty mission, and we hope to take a big step in providing the organization with the new and gently used shoes they require to keep making a difference for people in need,” said Dan Dent, of Keller Williams. “The simple truth is that almost anyone with a closet has shoes they don’t wear, or an old pair that will just end up in a landfill.”
Soles4Souls converts the donated footwear into a so-called “value-added social currency.” The shoes are distributed to micro-enterprise programs which create jobs in places like Haiti, Honduras and other developing countries.
According to a release issued by the organization, millions of children around the world don’t have access to proper shoes, which can adversely affect their health.
Those wishing to donate their shoes can drop them off at 5222 Pirrone Court, Ste. 301, Salida, CA 95368, or call (209) 496-9200 for more information.
