Valley Children’s Healthcare, with locations throughout the Central Valley, has been named by Becker’s Healthcare as one of the country’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare for 2018. The list recognizes organizations that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth.

“When you consider that there are nearly 6,000 hospitals and health systems across the country, this recognition is significant,” said Todd Suntrapak, president and CEO of Valley Children’s Healthcare, in a statement. “What’s more significant is that it reflects the work each of us at Valley Children’s does day in and day out to bring our very best to take care of the kids we are privileged to serve.”

Valley Children’s is one of only seven other children’s hospitals to make the list in the U.S.

Among the reasons the healthcare system was selected were:

  • Highest scoring in Leapfrog’s rankings for inpatient care management, medication safety and infection and injury prevention
  • Network-wide health and wellness program, complete with fitness classes, farmer’s market and employee discounts to various health and family programs
  • The “Our Best” initiative, promoting collaboration and stewardship to inspire employee engagement

According to Valley Children’s, the recognition comes one week after The Advisory Board Company named the system a Workplace of the Year for the second year in a row, which is only given to 20 organizations across the nation.
