The San Joaquin Regional Transit District, known as RTD, is looking for mural artists to create a 10-foot-by-eight-foot mural for the north side of its Downtown Transit Center.
The piece will be mounted on the existing stucco wall, and RTD officials are asking that it “include and/or invoke the following”:
- RTD Mission: To provide a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system for the region.
• RTD Core Values: Customer service, safety, a positive work environment, and sustainability.
• RTD Vision: To be the transportation service of choice for the residents we serve.
Artwork should be durable enough to be displayed outdoors through any type of weather and public interaction.
Artists will need to submit samples, proposals (including costs, materials, transportation to and from the site and artist’s fees). Artists are asked to include a biography, a sketch of the proposed mural and references from at two people.
According to RTD, the budget is $5,000. The mural project is open to all artists and artist teams over the age of 18, and the selected artist will be required to enter a contract with the transit agency.
The deadline for the proposals is June 1, 2018, by 5 p.m., and submissions can be emailed to [email protected]. After interviews, the final selection will be made by June 29.
