Cabin crew must wear diapers on risky flights

(Bloomberg) – China’s aviation regulator is now recommending that its cabin crew wear disposable diapers during charter flights to high-risk covid-19 destinations to avoid using the bathroom and reduce the risk of infection. Advice comes. in a 38-page list of guidelines for airlines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The sixth edition echoes similar instructions in previous shorter versions. The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) noted that the recommendation applies to charter flights to and from countries and regions where contagion figures exceed 500 cases for every million people Diaper advice can be found in a section on personal protective equipment, where cabin crew are also advised to use medical protective masks, double-layer disposable medical gloves, goggles, disposable caps, disposable protective suits and disposable shoe covers. The flight crew should wear masks and goggles, but they do not need diapers. Another tip for flights includes dividing the cabin into separate “clean area, intermediate area, passenger rest area and quarantine area” by disposable curtains. The last three rows should be designated as an emergency quarantine area, CAAC reported. The agency declined to reveal more details about the guidelines. China’s aviation market was hit hard by the start of the outbreak in Wuhan and its subsequent spread across the country. But it has recovered – at least in national terms – to approach its pre-pandemic levels, while other regions such as Europe and the United States are struggling to control COVID-19. Airlines have insisted that it is safe to fly during the season. pandemic, in part thanks to hospital-grade air filters installed on airplanes, but some researchers say it still cannot be definitively concluded that the risk is minimal. There are some documented cases of contagion on flights despite passengers wearing masks and sitting very far apart.Original Note: Cabin Crew Told to Wear Diapers on Risky Covid FlightsFor more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.comSubscribe now to stay ahead with the most trusted business news source. © 2020 Bloomberg LP
