Intel introduced its new 12th generation processor called Alder Lake. The future of the company centers on this little beast.
Intel it only recently suffered one of its biggest blows after losing the majority of market share in the desktop segment.
AMD was the company in charge of ending its period of glory that was overshadowed and collapsed by a series of bad decisions and delays.
But Intel is not on the canvas and is more than willing to fight. In fact, they seem to have a powerful ace up their sleeve: the new processors Alder lake.
Pure power in miniature
Within the framework of the virtual activities of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021 people revealed the first details of these twelfth generation microprocessors.
While virtually the entire presentation focused on the 11th generation of processors, called Rocket Lake-S, there was a time to take a look at the future.
Alder Lake represents a significant advancement in x86 architecture and will be the most power-scalable system-on-chip ever developed by Intel.
It is anticipated that it will be present in the market from the second half of 2021, and it was detailed that the processor « will combine high-performance cores and high-efficiency cores in a single product. »
Alder Lake will also be Intel’s first processor built on top of a new and improved 10nm SuperFin version and will serve as the foundation for desktop and mobile processors in the near future.
This component will use the Golden Lake cores for power and Gracemont cores for efficiency. This combination would put them in direct competition even with Apple’s M1 processor.
