Yesterday took place the conference of financial results of the last quarter of Apple, which incidentally have broken records again, and the chief financial officer of Apple, Luca Maestri confirmed something that had been rumored for several months: the iPhone 12 will be delayed.
It is something very unusual in Apple, but quite normal in the times in which we live. Over the last few months we have already informed you of the significant delays that have occurred due to the closure of factories in China, and it is something that has affected the start of manufacturing of the new 2020 iPhone.
The iPhone 12 will arrive “a few weeks later”
Despite being an official confirmation by one of the most important Apple executives, Luca Maestri was nothing concrete. I just assure you that this year the new generation of iPhone would come later, but without setting a date on the calendar. It is an important statement, since Apple never makes this type of statement, on previous occasions they have even refused to answer questions about device filters.
“As you know, last year we started selling new iPhones in late September. This year, we expect the supply to be available a few weeks later. “
As you can see in the phrase, we talk about supply, that is, the manufactured devices that can reach the market, so it’s a manufacturing problem, not with the development of the device itself. This means that Apple could present the iPhone throughout September as it usually does, although they wouldn’t hit the market until a few weeks later.
These types of delays are not strange, in fact 2019 was the first time in a long time that Apple presented 3 iPhones and none were delayed. In 2017, Apple introduced the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, but the latter did not hit the market until November.. Something similar happened in 2018, the iPhone XS hit the market in a few weeks, but the iPhone XR was delayed until October.
Last year all three iPhone 11 models went on sale on September 20. If we take Maestri’s words, the iPhone 12 will be delayed this year between 2 and 3 weeks, so we wouldn’t see them on the market until mid-October, at the earliest.

This year, Apple is expected to once again expand its iPhone range and launch four different iPhone 12 models, all of them will have 5G connectivity, OLED screens and the A14 processor. The smallest and most affordable model will be the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, then we will have another 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max and, lastly, two 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro models. As with this year, cameras will be the main differences between these models, the iPhone 12 Pro will feature three cameras and an extra LiDAR sensor, and normal iPhone 12s will use a dual camera setup similar to that of the iPhone 11.
