Hollywood has not raised its head since the pandemic began and today a new wave of film delays was announced, including « No Time to Die » (James Bond), « Morbius », « Uncharted » or the new « Ghostbusters » film. « .

The film industry today lived a new black day that began with the announcement that « No Time to Die », the film with which Daniel Craig will say goodbye as James Bond, will be delayed for the third time to set its premiere now on 8 October 2021.

« No Time to Die » was the first major Hollywood film to postpone its release when the pandemic began last year and with this it already accumulates three delays (from April to November 2020, from November 2020 to April 2021, and from April to October 2021).

The British agent is always a great magnet for the public, but this time he arrives with an extra arsenal in « No Time to Die »: it is Daniel Craig’s last film as Bond, Billie Eilish has signed the main theme of the soundtrack, Ana de Armas and Rami Malek are in its cast, and Cary Joji Fukunaga is its director.

Shortly after the James Bond delay, Sony today unveiled a long list of delays that question Hollywood’s hopes that, after a dismal 2020 for cinema, 2021 could bring some reassurance and joy to the industry.

Sony was one of the fastest studios last year to clear its 2020 calendar and delay its big projects.

Thus, the study today postponed « Morbius », a film about the famous villain of the Spider-Man stories starring Jared Leto, from October 8, 2021 to January 21 of next year.

This delay is quite striking since less than ten days ago Sony had announced that « Morbius » would go from being released on March 19 to October 8, a date that finally has not turned out to be the final either.

In addition, « Ghostbusters: Afterlife », the new installment about the paranormal comedy saga, also scored a new setback and is now scheduled to land on the big screen on November 11 instead of June 11.

The adaptation of the video game « Uncharted », with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as protagonists, will not be seen until February 11, 2022 despite the fact that it was scheduled to be released on July 16 of this year.

That gap is now reserved for the version of « Cinderella » led by Latin star Camila Cabello.

The delay of this new look at the famous princess tale was an open secret: it was due to be released on February 5, that is, within two weeks and the poster or the trailer for the film had not yet been released.

Also, « Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway » was delayed for two months: from April 2 to June 11.

To all these postponements must be added today two more courtesy of Universal: « Nobody » with Bob Odenkirk will premiere on April 2 (instead of February 26) and « Last Night in Soho » with Anya Taylor-Joy will be presented on October 22 (on account of April 23).

« I know some of you may be disappointed, but my hope is that more of you can experience the film with the intention we had: in the dark, on a big screen, with an audience, » the director of « Last Night in Soho « Edgar Wright.

Until the pandemic is controlled and the coronavirus vaccination has reached a very high share in the population, Hollywood is expected to continue delaying many of its films intended for the general public or to choose to release them on the digital market.

On the immediate horizon of potential new Hollywood « victims » are « Chaos Walking » (with Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley) and « The King’s Man » (prequel to « Kingsman: The Secret Service », 2014), which should reach theaters in March
