At some point Zack Snyder had plans for Batgirl / Barbara Gordon in his version of the DCEU. That’s plans died with the Snyderverse. That on the other hand, does not mean that the character will not be part of the DCEU. This year it was confirmed that there are plans to make Batgirl, which will be exclusive to HBO Max and will star Leslie Grace.
Do not miss: Leslie Grace, from En el Barrio, will be Batgirl in the HBO movie Max
This decision is due to the fact that the company wants to have more exclusives to attract subscribers to its streaming service. It’s no secret that what makes such a service survive is not just the old series and movies that customers love. No. They are the new exclusives that everyone is dying to see. Disney knew it and that is why it has launched and will launch Star Wars and Marvel series that are part of the canon of its films.
Warner is fighting back by releasing DCEU movies that will be exclusive to its streaming service. So far we know that, apart from the one already mentioned, they are producing a movie about Black Canary and another about Blue Beetle. Admittedly, looking at the heroes they’ve chosen for HBO Max, everything seems to indicate that Warner is being as cautious as ever. This decision also sounds like they didn’t want to risk those characters on the big screen. It sounds like they want to imitate Marvel halfway. That company doesn’t hesitate to make big-budget movies with characters people don’t know, but Warner doesn’t quite dare.

Not much of the plot of that tape has been revealed, but Leslie grace talked about the character a bit recently. She had a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, in which she spoke in detail about the characteristics and motivations of her character, in a way that an MCU actor could not. The main thing he said is that his character is someone who wants to prove himself to the world. Here his words:
She is someone who has been underestimated even by her own father and being the youngest daughter, sometimes you are isolated from all the difficult things in life and she wants to prove to herself and everyone else that there are some things. that she can handle. So this trip is definitely going to show me a lot of that. I feel like I’m on an infinite journey to prove to myself what barriers I can break, what limits I can overcome for myself and I’m excited to put a little of that enthusiasm and motivation and a little of that, like, stupidity into the character of Barbara.
On the other hand, in that same interview a topic that has been talked about a lot about this film came up. The possible return of JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Batgirl’s father. She did not deny or affirm it, rather she said that she would like that to be the case:
I’m ready to learn a lot from JK: Simmons. If you’re listening, I respect you a lot and please play my dad. I hope you are my dad.
On the other hand, a few months ago Zack snyder He spoke with Esquire and revealed what his plans were for that character:
I always wanted Barbara Gordon to come to the movies. Commissioner Gordon would be about to disappear, and Barbara would begin to play a bigger role. My idea was that after Batman sacrificed himself, there would be a scenario where there was no Batman, and I thought Barbara could fill that in until Superman and Lois’ son, who has no powers, becomes Batman when he comes of age. […] That was the idea anyway. It seemed to make sense. So of course Barbara could have been her mentor, but who knows? That’s it … look, now it’s just illusions.
