Out of respect for the footballer’s privacy, the board will keep his name strictly confidential.

After testing covid-19 on its squad, the Mexican soccer team Club Deportivo Guadalajara released this Friday through a press release that recorded the first case of the disease among its players, which until now remains asymptomatic.

Out of “respect for the player’s privacy,” his name will be kept “strictly confidential,” unless he is the one who decides to make his condition public, the ‘Los Chivas’ statement said.

The rojiblanco club specified that “the results of the tests of the technical staff, the board and other members” of the team are still pending.

So far, 62,527 covid-19 infections have been recorded in Mexico, while the number of deaths from the coronavirus is 6,989.
