Joe Biden’s campaign announced how it would proceed in the face of the possibility that President Donald Trump will refuse to accept a possible defeat, if his Democratic rival wins the presidency of the United States.
“As we said on July 19, the American people will decide this election. And the US government is perfectly capable of escorting intruders out of the White House, “Biden’s campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said Friday.
Trump has repeatedly suggested that he would not recognize a victory for former Vice President Joe Biden, and his campaign has already filed a series of lawsuits against some of the key states that could bring Biden the victory. Several of these have already been dismissed by judges.
“We will go to the Supreme Court,” Trump told his supporters in a speech last Tuesday, when he falsely declared that he had won the election. “We want all voting to stop,” he added.
With millions of legitimate votes yet to be counted, Trump has falsely claimed since Tuesday that there is an attempt to “steal” the election.
In other statements delivered several weeks ago, Trump said that if he lost to Biden, he would leave the country.
This is something that has not happened in the modern history of elections, but it does emerge as a possible scenario. To see more from Telemundo, visit now.telemundo.com
