Illinois Governor JB Pritzker will provide an update on the coronavirus situation and the action plan to contain the virus on Wednesday.
The press conference is scheduled for 2 pm, after Tuesday a legislative committee approved new emergency regulations to curb the spread of the virus, including the mandatory use of face masks in businesses, schools and day care centers.
Those who violate it initially will be instructed on the measure of use, a repeat offense would cause a warning and a third offense would carry a fine. Under this new guideline there would be no penalties for individuals but for businesses.
Last week Pritzker also established an occupancy limit for establishments of 50 people or 50% of the capacity of the venue.
Among the measures is legislation that is aimed at protecting those who, due to their work, may be more exposed to contagion, such as immediate emergency care bodies and store employees. .
The governor has said he would consider fining those who do not wear masks. A source told NBC 5 that the governor could issue an order that would empower local authorities to force the mandatory use of face masks.
