MCALLEN, Texas- McAllen police confirmed to Noticias Telemundo 40 this Friday that a person was arrested in connection with the death of a band musician after an overdose of drugs, specifically fentanyl.
This is José Raquel Lerma, 31 years old. Authorities suspect that Lerma is a member of the Po Boys gang.
According to the McAllen police, Lerma was arrested this Friday and charged with murder due to criminal negligence after being identified as the alleged person responsible for supplying the drugs to the group of musicians.
These arrests come days after four men were found unconscious inside a bathroom at The Old Beer House, located on 17th Street in downtown McAllen. The events took place at dawn on November 14.
The mortal victim was identified as Sergio Sánchez, 29, from Alamo and a member of the Banda Sinaloense Nueva Generación de Chuy Hernández, who played the trombone.
Meanwhile, a man remains hospitalized and two others were arrested after being released from the hospital.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Noticias Telemundo 40 the arrest of Lerma and two other people who are allegedly connected to this case. They are Maricela López and Ricardo Melvin McDaniel.
According to authorities, López is Lerma’s partner and McDaniel allegedly belongs to another gang, possibly Valluco.
The three arrested were charged with various charges, including possession of marijuana and distribution of controlled substances.
Those arrested were identified as Víctor Manuel Soto, 28, of San Juan and José Eduardo Paredes Franco, 27, of McAllen. Both are trumpeters of the Sinaloense Band La Nueva Generación de Chuy Hernández.
Soto and Paredes Franco were charged with possession of controlled substances, considered a third degree crime. A judge set a bond of $ 5,000 each.
