CNE authorizes 19 pollsters for electoral forecasts and three for exit polls – Latest News, Breaking News, Top News Headlines

He National Electoral Council (CNE) authorized 19 pollsters of electoral forecasts and three polls at the exit to participate in the general elections on February 7 in Ecuador, a source from the organization confirmed to Efe on Thursday.

With the last registration of six survey companies, a total of 19 firms and individuals have been authorized to carry out the election forecasts.

Regarding the development of polls, « exit polls are carried out during the electoral process, but the results are disseminated once election day closes, » a CNE source reminded Efe.

The pollsters that will participate in the exit poll are the companies:

Visión Empresarial Viemp S.A.
Center for Research and Specialized Studies Centroinvest Cía. Ltda
Blasco Peñaherrera y Asociados Estudios de Mercadeo y Opinion Cía. Ltda.

In accordance with the regulations approved by the electoral body, “legally registered companies or individuals may publish the results of the polls and electoral forecasts in the media until 10 days before the elections, that is, until next January 28, 2021«, Indicated the CNE.

More than 13 million Ecuadorians are called to vote on February 7 to choose their candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the country, in addition to the 137 members of the National Assembly and five representatives of the Andean Parliament.

That day the Ecuadorian citizens must register their vote in four ballots: a lilac one for the presidential binomial, another light blue for national assembly members, one gray for Andean parliamentarians, another yellow for provincial assembly members or red for foreign representatives, depending on the electoral constituency.

More than 500 observers, the majority national and a dozen international ones, will supervise the development of the democratic day in cities such as Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Riobamba, Loja, Ibarra, Macas, Portoviejo and Manta. (I)
