Daughter of former Prime Minister and former European Commissioner Siim Kallas, the boss of the Reform Party is a convinced Europhile. A former influential MEP, Ms Kallas is also passionate about innovation, who believes that regulations should not hinder the digital technological revolution.
If she is invested by Parliament, she will succeed Juri Ratas, who resigned Wednesday after her Center Party was investigated for corruption. The Prime Minister’s departure takes with him the coalition which included the far-right party EKRE. Ms. Kallas’ party, which won the 2019 legislative elections but was unable to form a government for lack of an absolute majority, will start negotiations with the Center Party.
