The event director for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) said it would be a mistake for former Vice President Mike Pence to skip the conference.
Former President Donald Trump was confirmed to attend the event. Reports have said that Pence would not attend; The Epoch Times has reached out to Pence’s office for comment.
“We are pleased that the President is joining us and we are disappointed that the Vice President is not coming. We believe that it is a mistake that does not come. We Conservatives think of Vice President Pence with great honor and dignity. He is a true champion of conservatism, ”Conservative Political Action Conference Executive Director Dan Schneider told MSNBC on Sunday.
Schneider said Pence has likely spoken at CPAC more than a dozen times over the years. And this year, if Pence were to attend, he would be « very warmly welcomed, » he said.
Pence was criticized in January for presiding over the Joint Session of Congress on January 6 when the House and Senate certified the election of President Joe Biden. Trump, on Twitter, wrote at the time that Pence lacked « the courage » to attempt to challenge the results.
Trump’s planned appearance at CPAC was confirmed Saturday. He is reportedly scheduled to speak at the event on February 28, which will be held in Orlando, Florida.
His adviser, Jason Miller, told Fox Business last weekend that Trump will likely present an optimistic vision for the United States, focusing on taking on the Chinese Communist Party and taking on big tech companies and censorship.
“I had the opportunity to speak with the president, and he is very excited to make his next speech before CPAC, where they will hear him present his positive vision for the future of this country, a vision in which we face China, as it was. making the president before leaving office, and reclaiming our manufacturing, a vision where our schools are open and our border is closed to illegal immigration, a vision where the Big Tech monopoly is dismantled and freedom of speech and liberty of speech and free thought may reign, because that’s what this country is all about, ”Miller said.
CPAC, which is the largest gathering of conservative voices, will take place February 25-28.
And earlier this month, it was announced that Pence would join the Heritage Foundation, start a podcast, and speak at universities and conferences.
