His enormous influence on pop culture goes beyond his music. Its visual identity, its otherworldly sound and its festive spirit inspired generations of artists of all genres. LCD Soundsystem’s track, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House,” captured the duo’s fashion, though they were also sampled by R&B greats like Janet Jackson and Jazmine Sullivan, and even parodied on Family Guy and Powerpuff Girls.
At the end we have his enormous musical legacy. Four studio albums, hits that marked millions of people, an animated film, the soundtrack of a cult film and an indelible mark in the history of music. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo always wanted to hide their identities behind those robot helmets, but with what they did all this time they showed us that they are human despite everything.
