A 50-year-old man has died and a 28-year-old man is in custody after a fatal accident in Arlington almost midnight Tuesday in the 7800 block of South Cooper Street.
Police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found a motorcyclist who was seriously injured and a driver involved had fled the scene.
Investigators believe the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on South Cooper Street when a motorist attempted to turn left from 1200 Sturgeon Court and failed to yield to the motorcycle, police said.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
According to the police, the driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle fled the scene on foot. But later they located him and Felipe Venegas, 28, was identified.
The driver was arrested and charged with failing to stop to provide assistance. He also faces a charge of intoxication homicide.
