The Swazi Nabhule Dlamini and the Scottish Kesley Mac Donald, both with a return of 68 strokes (4 under par), lead the Estrella Damm Ladies Open, a tournament on the European women’s circuit (LET) that takes place on the field of the Terramar Golf Club in Sitges (Barcelona) with the participation of 126 players -20 Spanish- from 26 nations.
Navarre María Hernández is the best ranked Spanish player in thirteenth place after presenting a 70-stroke card (2 below) with birdies on holes 4, 9 and 10 and a bogey on 7.
At 35 years old and first Spanish in the European Order of Merit 2021 in 28th place, Hernández was educated at Purdue University in the United States, where she was voted Athlete of the Year in 2008, two before moving on to the professional field.
As for Nabuhle Dlamani, 29 years old and a professional since 2014, he had a spectacular start with birdies on holes 2, 3 and 4, to which he added another on 8 to close the round with four down.
Third is the 25-year-old Argentine Magdalena Simmmermacher, professional since 2019 and number 11 of the Order of Merit. He presented a 69-stroke card (-3) with birdies on holes 1, 7 and 11, an ‘eagle’ at 4 (par 5), but made two errors with ‘bogeys’ on holes 16 and 17.
The Scottish Kesley MacDonald, who will turn 31 on October 5, ties with Dlamani for the lead after also presenting a round of 68 strokes, with birdies on holes 3, 9, 13, 15 and 16 and a bogey at 5.
This Saturday the second round is disputed in which the cut will be established. The top 60 most tied will play the third and last lap on Sunday.
