If you expected to be able to play Path of Exile 2 this year, then we have bad news for you. Chris Wilson, director of Grinding Gear Games, stated that due to multiple complications caused by the pandemic, it is likely that this new project will not arrive until 2022.
In interview for PC Gamer, Wilson explained that the development of the game has not progressed as fast as they would like. Here is an excerpt from his statement:
“We’ve had a hard time hiring international people because the New Zealand border is closed, so that slowed our team growth a bit.
The development process has not progressed as fast as we would have liked either, so our goal is to work as hard as we can in 2021 and see how far we can move forward. We are trying to do as much as we can, and that will give us a better idea of a possible release date, which will surely be geared more towards the end of the year. “
Meanwhile, let us remember that the original Path of Exile will receive a brand new expansion on January 20 under the name of The Echoes of the Atlaswhich includes tons of new content, 11 additional maps, and more game modes.
