(.) – Like forecasting models that predict the weather, the United States Geological Survey, USGS, has a forecasting model for the probable series of aftershocks after the 7.0 earthquake in Alaska.
It says there is a 78% chance of 0-23 aftershocks of magnitude 5 or greater in the coming week.
During the next 24 hours, there could be between 10 and 1,000 aftershocks of magnitude 3 or greater.

Right now, they estimate there is a 35% chance of 100 million to 1 billion in economic losses. There is a 25% probability that economic losses exceed one billion.
