Enclosure of electric scooters in the pedestrian areas of Barcelona

The Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona will be especially attentive to electric scooters starting next week, especially in pedestrian areas, since the Royal Decree of the Council of Ministers that came into force on January 2 prohibits them for these vehicles.

They have explained this Wednesday the Deputy Mayor for Security and Prevention, Albert Batlle, and the Councilor for Mobility, Rosa Alarcón, who have also recalled that state regulations establish a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour for its driving – before it was allowed to reach 30-.

Likewise, Alarcón has affirmed that the Royal Decree leaves it in the hands of the municipalities to decide on the mandatory to wear a helmet and have insurance, and that Barcelona will propose it. The proposal will be debated within the framework of the Mobility Pact and if accepted, “it may take more than a year and a half to enter into force for administrative reasons.”
