The IndieWire site revealed that through an Instagram Live, the recent Oscar winner for best actress, Frances Mcdormard, he pointed out about the particularities offered by this adaptation of Joel:
I think one very important thing about the Joel adaptation is that we don’t call it ‘Macbeth’. We call it ‘The Macbeth Tragedy’, which I think is an important distinction. In the Joel adaptation, we are exploring the age of the characters, the Macbeths are older. Both Denzel and I are older than is commonly portrayed as the Macbeths. We are postmenopausal, we are past the childbearing age. So that puts pressure on his ambition to have the crown. I think the most important distinction is that it is his last chance at glory

IndiWire also shared that McDormand, who is the producer of this film and wife of Joel Coen in real life, emphasized the importance of her character never having a child and highlighted aspects that helped her in the construction of her character:
It is very important to my performance that Lady Macbeth has never had a child. But there have been many pregnancies and perhaps children born who have died of stillbirth or very young. I think it is her personal tragedy that fuels her ambition to give the crown to her husband because she has not been able to give him an heir. For me, that’s the essence of the character.
After having seen the first trailer for The Tragedy of Macbeth, critics and audiences are of the opinion that McDormand could get again an Oscar nomination for best actress, they also predict possibilities to Denzel Washington to be nominated for best actor in the upcoming film awards season. In addition to seeing these two Oscar-winning performers work together for the first time, another aspect that most intrigues the film community is the arrival of their first solo work. Joel coen. Together with his brother, he won three Academy Awards for the film No Place for the Weak – 94% and one more for Fargo, Voluntary Kidnapping – 94%, therefore expectations are very high for this project. From the first trailer images, you can foresee that Joel has done a great job as a director, but we will wait until we see the quality of the final result of his new film.
