Formula One : The mother of Anthoine Hubert with an open heart

Formula One :

The death of Anthoine Hubert was already a year ago, on August 31, 2019 in Belgium. The Formula 1 and Formula 2 drivers will pay tribute throughout the weekend to the missing driver, thus bringing a little comfort to his mother, who obviously struggles to accept this “injustice” of life.

“The accident, I didn’t think about it. We didn’t talk about it. For protection surely ”. Nathalie Gabert, Anthoine Hubert’s mother, agreed to discuss, on RTL, the disappearance of her son, who lost his life on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on August 31. He was only 22 years old, and was promised a very bright future in the tubs, ready to follow in the footsteps of his friends Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc.

He sees that we don’t forget him

But fate, cruel, wanted otherwise. Her life came to a standstill, obviously leaving relatives and family alone in the face of absence. “No matter the sporting side of this drama, because before anything else I lost my son. And that is an indescribable pain ”, summarizes his mother. A year after the tragedy, she continues to cope, somewhat comforted by the tributes that are still promised to her offspring over the coming weekend. “These tributes help me a lot, and I hope that from where he is he sees all this, he sees that he is not forgotten,” she shares. It will be a year since Anthoine left, and I only realize today that it will be a year. I still feel like it was yesterday ”.

Why him ?

The burden is heavy to bear, which probably explains why Nathalie Gabert will not make the trip to Belgium this weekend, where the great F1 and F2 automobile barnum is expected at Spa-Francorchamps. “When Anthoine died, I arrived on the circuit the same evening. I wanted to go to the scene of the accident but I couldn’t. I regret it a little. So I’ll go, one day. But alone, ”she warns. This mother must simply continue to live, with this immense sorrow that will probably never fade. “It’s super unfair. Why him when he was one of the best, that he fought in each race to prove it ?, she explains. This accident, I had not imagined it, otherwise I will never have put my son in a kart at the age of 3 years and 3 months“.
