Formula One :

Max Verstappen dominated the Free Practice 1 of the British Grand Prix on Friday. On home soil, Lewis Hamilton finished second in this session.

The paddock drivers familiarized themselves with the Silverstone circuit this Friday during free practice 1 of the British Grand Prix which will take place this Sunday. A reconnaissance of the ground under an overwhelming heat. At home, the reigning world champion, Lewis hamilton, was rather at ease, finishing second in this first round, at +0.474 Max Verstappen.

Starting off with soft tires, unlike most of the other riders who chose medium tires, the Dutchman did well, posting his best time in 1: 27.422. The Red Bull driver hopes to finally succeed at Silverstone, a stronghold of Formula 1 where he only climbed once on the podium, in 2nd place failing behind the owner: Lewis Hamilton.

Vettel will wait, the discreet French

The Briton from Mercedes, crowned the previous year, has won six of the last seven races at Silverstone. Only Sebastian Vettel interrupted this hegemony in 2018. The German Ferrarri does not appear in the classification of these first free practice, the fault of a mechanical problem having blocked him in the pits. The surprise came from the Canadian Lance Stroll, 3rd (+0.582) of these first laps of the weekend.

On the French side, Esteban Ocon (Renault Sport) ranks 7th, Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) takes 11th place while Romain Grosjean (Haas) comes 15th. To underline the very good behavior of Nico Hülkenberg (Racing Point F1), 9th. The German replaced the Mexican Sergio Perez, who was positive for Covid-19.
