As Deadline announces, while working on his Jason Statham-starring spy thriller “Wrath of Man,” director Guy Ritchie has found a new project in the film adaptation of Damien Lewis’s World War II historical novel, ‘Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’.

The novel, published in 2016, explores World War II during 1939, when Britain was being defeated by Germany and Winston Churchill decided to respond by choosing to stop fighting under the accepted rules of engagement and build a team of warriors who became the first operative. secret in attacking behind enemy lines. Essentially, members of Britain’s first covert operations unit were recruited in the knowledge that they would probably not make it out alive, but they formed a close bond with the rest of their group and scored numerous key victories against the Nazis.

Paramount acquired the rights to the novel in 2015, prior to its publication and outbidding several major studios. The director of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ (2009) and ‘Aladdin’ (2019) write and direct the project that has already gone through other screenwriters such as Arash Amel, Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman will produce the project through Jerry Bruckheimer Films, while Ivan Atkinson will serve as executive producer and Paramount’s senior vice president of production, Vanessa Joyce, will oversee the project for the studio.
