Currently five states of the Mexican Republic continue on red light, due to the increase in infections by Covid-19, among which is Mexico City, this entity concentrates the largest number of agencies of the Federal Public Administration.
Reason for which the federal government extends the period of remote work of the institutions of the federal public administration, which will include from January 11 to April 30, 2021
On Friday, January 8, the Ministry of Public Function (SFP), sent a preliminary draft to the Commission for Regulatory Improvement (Conamer) in which it is reported that due to the fact that Mexico City remains on a red light since 19 December 2020, it is essential the immediate implementation, on the application of extraordinary measures, of health protection, urgently and obligatory, in order to reduce the high infections.

One year is about to be completed, in which the SFP instructed the workers’ home office, with the aim of avoiding infections as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was on March 23, 2020, when for the first time said Secretariat established an agreement for work at home for public servants.
The proposed measures are the implementation of a mandatory home office for workers over 60, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases, as well as the establishment of staggered hours, use of information technologies, among others.
The first article of the decree establishes that during the period from January 11 to April 30, 2021, the Heads of the Senior Officials Office of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and of the Administration and Finance Units or equivalent in the Administration Federal Public, may authorize or facilitate the following public servants:
Teleworking for adults over 60 years of age, people with disabilities, pregnant or lactating women, and people with chronic non-communicable diseases (diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary, liver, metabolic, morbid obesity, kidney failure, lupus, cancer, cardiac, among others, associated with an increased risk of complications).
Staggered working days for public service workers, with children under 12 years of age who are studying basic education, among the personnel belonging to the various administrative units.
Staggered entry hours for public servants, on the days they attend the work centers.
Finally, the decree establishes that the exclusion of its application is for the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) and Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), as well as the institutions and authorities that participate in security work and the National Guard, in addition to all the organizations that provide public health and civil protection services.
