The Suicide Squad received rave reviews, with many specialists calling it the best of DC in years. In particular, John Cena’s work as Peacemaker was so lucky among the audience that the company and Gunn arranged to make a spin-off series of the character that will premiere in HBO Max. But the director has not forgotten his steps with MarvelAfter all he is a fanatic who does not take sides. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will arrive sometime in 2023, if not the famous calendar of Marvel changes significantly in the coming months.
During a talk for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gunn revealed that he has several ideas that can be developed within his vision of Guardians of the Galaxy. Specifically, he talks about a series that could well fit among the brand’s titles in Disney +, like Loki – 96% or WandaVision – 95%:
I always believed that The Ravagers would be a great show. Whether it was with Sylvester Stallone’s Ravagers or even something more in depth with just the pirates and whatever they are doing.
Ravagers is how a criminal group is known that travels throughout the universe. One part was managed by Yondu (Michael Rooker), who also recruited them.
Gunn clarified that he had the idea since he was filming the first part and Kevin Feige seemed to be open to the proposal:
I told Kevin Feige that when he first visited the set when we were on the Ravagers ship in Guardians 1. I told him we should do a Ravagers series. He told me: “If this movie is a success, you can do whatever you want.” There isn’t a Ravagers show yet, so I don’t know what happened.

As interesting as Gunn’s proposal is, the truth is that the UCM it is quite specific with its titles. The normal thing is to see how they are woven together to make sense of future films, regardless of whether they can be enjoyed separately. This is the best way to ensure that the public is committed to watching movies and series, even if they are not to their liking.
However, a spin-off of Guardians of the Galaxy It doesn’t sound bad at all and it would allow you to explore stories and parts of the universe that will no longer be visible once the third part arrives. In fact, on more than one occasion, Gunn has claimed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 It will be the last movie to work with that team of superheroes.
James Gunn recently commented that DC is a freer company than Marvel, which sounds a bit strange when we know what Warner Bros. did with Suicide Squad – 25% from David Ayer and Zack Snyder’s Justice League – 82%. The director did have creative freedom and power over the final cut of The Suicide Squad, which was very favorable. People say that DC He wants to work on more film projects with Gunn, so it will be a matter of time to find out if he will divide his time and creativity between the two companies.
